There are constantly posts asking about which test company people prefer.

Please select the company with which you took a test prep course. (or the company of which you used materials... i.e. powerscore, LGB)

Add any comments you deem relevant. (if you used two companies, explain why you thought your selected one was superior. Also, feel free to post your selected test prep company and the increase you had on the LSAT from DT to the real deal.)

Saves money and it looks like I will get a five point boost at the absolute worst at this rate.

I took the powerscore class, it was solid because in addition to the class materials they gave us a huge book of something like 30 real preptests. I took the class to prepare for the June '09 LSAT, but got massacred by the dinosaurs and canceled my score. I retook in September after spending the summer doing self-study strictly by taking the preptests under timed conditions, going up 10 points from my diagnostic. I had been testing higher on my own, but as we all know, nothing truly compares to the real thing. Really didn't matter in the end anyway because even with 3 more points I still would've gone where I am going now with the same amount of $$$, so it all worked out in the end.

TL;DR: Found the PowerScore class and materials very helpful and experienced a 10 point jump from diagnostic, even with underperforming.

My aim was/is to channel test prep preferences into one thread and provide a consensus (if enough responded of course, which is still my hope) that was empirical and easy to see right away (via polling).

True, all of the information posted will likely be available on some other part of this site. But the info is scattered throughout the site. For instance, there are several posts/topics that feature questions such as:

What did you do to prep on your own (books used, etc.)?
Did you prefer test prep company X or Y?
What did you think of test prep company Z?
Should I use Y's LG material and Z's RC strategy?

My aim, again, was simply to condense prep preferences into one place. If there is already a thread that does the same thing on the same topic as this one, and asks for the same other information, well then I apologize.

I don't mean to be hostile, I don't mind if people want to repeat the same topics again and again, it's not hurting anyone. But it's not even the first time today the question came up. Just poking fun. It'll be a great thread, and it will be again on Tuesday when it's done again.

The problem is that the companies all do different things for different prep formats. It's not as though one company is the consensus leader in books AND classes AND online options AND tutors AND everything else. So the information that you get it worse than useless; it's misleading.

Prep courses are useless and a waste of money. What is needed is EFFORT.
