hearing you only have 5 minutes remaining is panic-inducing. make sure you have an AUDIBLE 5 minute warning on your PTs on every section.

What kind of person gets thrown off by hearing some one say, "Five minutes left"?

Enough people that we actually talk about it in my classes. :P

Yeah, usually people try to crank it up into high gear in the last 5 minutes, and usually they do it in the wrong ways ("AAAAHHH I'VE ONLY DONE 2 GAMES IN THE PAST 30 MINUTES SO NOW I'M GOING TO MAKE UP FOR IT BY DOING 2 MORE GAMES IN THE NEXT 5 MINUTES AAAAHHHH!!!"), so it's worth considering at least for a moment or two what to do as time is winding down.

in games, when your last 5 minutes is enough time to solve a whole game, the best thing is probably learn to completely ignore it. that is what i did anyway. in every section, come to think of it.

I've never done a game in 5 minutes. But if you can, it sounds like terrible section management to be doing that game last

Make sure you have no more than 3 questions left by the time you get to the 30 minute mark. That's all you can do.

Would you be willing to volunteer yourself to call me and inform me of the 5 minute warning while i'm taking my PT's?

This thread and the pencil thread are my favorites in a while.

I agree, actually. At first, the 5-minute warning was a little jarring and would cause me to mentally evaluate where I was at in the test (wasting about a minute). By the 10th time, I barely moved when I heard it.

I would use one of the proctor mp3s that has the 5-minute built in if you are finding yourself phased at all by the prompt.

i realize it sounds like a small thing, obviously i did not think it mattered either; for two tests' worth of prep i just set a timer for 35 minutes. but wasting time panicking because i was worried i had too little time for too much section is, i think, the #1 reason i had to take the LSAT 3 times.

also, once i changed my preparation method i got comfortable with the fact that, for example, i can get a game done in under 5 minutes, or 6 end-of-section LR questions. that confidence makes a huge difference.

The majority of people are stupid and incompetent.

seems like an odd point to take a stand on, but alright, i'll bite... i think the majority of testers are anxious about sitting for the LSAT in general, and also have problems finishing some or all of their sections, and hearing a 5 minute warning called on test day raises their anxiety enough to impact their performance during those last 5 minutes.

yeah, I can see feeling like this if I still had like an entire RC passage to go. When I know I'm behind I don't even like to look at my watch because it can be panic-inducing. I would rather get a warning at like 30 seconds to go so I could bubble in any answers I didn't get to.
