I'm wondering if anyone practiced with these early tests. Is there any particular reason why lsac doesn't sell them individually? Are they any different from the ones in the first 10 actual book?

I'm not sure that it would be worth worrying about. Between the "Actual" preptest books and the new individual ones that you can buy it should be sufficient for your studies. I had originally thought the same thing but then I read in the forums about the differences between even the "Actual" preptest books and the newer tests. I realized that it probably wouldn't be worth it to worry about finding them. Hope this kind of answers your question.

CambridgeLSAT offers them for download. I suggest doing the LGs from them for the very reason that they are different from recent ones. I think that you increase your chances of success if you have tools to figure out unfamiliar games rather than having memorized set categories and scripts of how to do them. You won't be stuck when they introduce some new game that doesn't fit neatly into the Bible

This is exactly why I tried to hunt as many of the old LSATs down as I could during my prep. Their usefulness lies in their being so different from the current test. While the LR is essentially still the same (although there are a few wacky ones), the LG is definitely different. I honestly don't think they are "harder" but they are definitely different, and rely much more on your ability to diagnose the problem quickly, and draw many mini-diagrams.

A few of the LG's of old don't fit into any categories and are their own monsters. These were my favorite because they were almost purely conceptual and required very little diagramming, just a few minutes of thinking hard.

Also, many people believe that the RC from these older tests was much easier in general. It wasn't until maybe five years ago that RC really started getting ramped up to the overly dense stuff it is now.

I was able to find four of the six publications containing the rare tests in my hunt, and I found all of them at some point over Amazon.com, but it took a bit of work.

If you are going to do all the PTs, assuming you have access to affordable printing, I think the most cost-efficient solution is the bundle of 1-59 on CambridgeLSAT ($177 for all the PTs, or an average of about $3 per test).

I sure wish this site existed (or I had the fortitude to make it myself) when I started prepping. Of course, it only takes one jerk to upload it as a torrent and your revenue stream takes a flush for the worse.
