Although it appears in this way in other questions as well, what exactly does survey mean when it says "A survey of political influences on chinese art"

Is it just a sort of study / research into the impact those politics had? Is it used to connotate a neutral tone?

That's what I figured, but just wanted to be 100% sure... I got this question right, but I was very close to picking A.

"Survey" in this context means a brief overview; more breadth than depth on the information pertaining to the subject. Think an "Asian History 101" course versus an upper-level seminar.
