Beginning LSAT Prep - Diagnostic Test(s)

Most people recommend beginning LSAT preparations by taking a diagnostic PrepTest to determine your current score and abilities. I can't really think of a better way of going about studying than simply immersing myself first, and then working through different study guides (PowerScore, Atlas, etc.) based on my weaknesses. However, I do have some questions:
Which PrepTest should I use as my diagnostic? I know that the newer ones will best resemble the LSAT I will take in October. However, what specific range of PrepTests are most like the current generation tests?
Should I simply take one diagnostic, or multiple? I can see how averaging a set of diagnostic scores could be more accurate at determining where I currently stand than simply one cold test.
