Sex & LSAT Focus

I received some odd advice for preparing for the LSAT (thanks, dad  ), and I don't know what to make of it, especially the fourth item. Any experiences confirming or refuting it?

Here are some of the pointers for your LSAT course and exam which you can implement immediately:

* Make sure you get at least 8 hrs of sleep every day. If you missed it, make it up the following day - it does work.
* Use imagery guided relaxation for 10 - 15 minutes before you retire for the night to enhance the quality of your sleep.
* Start taking vitamin B-1 250 mg 1 x daily for mental stamina (not B-12, B complex, nor variations of vitamin B).
* Refrain from sex (until after exam) for optimum physical and mental focus - like Martial artists, boxers, & Olympian athletes' training before competition.
* On testing day, 1 hour before exam, take another 250 mg of B-1 ( it really works).

I gave my girlfriend bone in ways you can't even imagine during LSAT prep. I got a 174. WTF does sex have to do with it?

That's a pretty serious question, frankly. Sex just before leaving for the test center - yes or no? I'd prefer links to any studies on mental acuity just after sex.

No but seriously, I masturbated in the bathroom during the break. Without question it helps the mind.

#2: Use imagery guided relaxation for 10 - 15 minutes before you retire for the night to enhance the quality of your sleep.

Amended #2: Use real unguided sex for 10 - 15 minutes before you retire for the night to enhance the quality of your sleep.

Edit: Hah, i thought it said imaginary. Still, I think the amended version is better advice.

Exactly how super is your "dingle"?

Sorry, someone had to ask.

hah. That would be a bad way to get your score canceled and have it explained in those terms to the law school.

How exactly is adding to your stress level by creating sexual frustration on top of every other frustration one has to deal with in regards to the LSAT supposed to be helpful at all? I say the more sex, the better. Morning sex the day before the actual LSAT, though. Can't have anything distracting you from sleep.

What LSAC regulation forbids masturbating in the bathroom during the break?

What test centers/universities explicitly forbid it?

Actually, there has been articles/studies published that show that having sex before having to give a speech is beneficial because it relaxes you. Being that the fear of public speaking is closely tied with death for #1 fear, and the LSAT can be a frightening task, I would say it can relax you before the LSAT and your dad's advice has more to do with him not wanting his son to be having sex rather than LSAT preparedness lol.

Perhaps your dad is just thinking that sex might mean drama for you. He may not be aware that you have an uncomplicated booty call you can take advantage of.

The B-1 advice is stupid. That's Thiamin. While a deficiency might cause some confusion or compromise mental performance, taking MORE than you really need if you don't have a deficiency won't do shit. It's fortified in a lot of foods, and it's extremely rare for someone in this country to be deficient unless they have an eating disorder or drink a ton of alcohol. Eating a good solid breakfast before the exam is sufficient.

Only SOME athletes refrain from sex. Others swear that it will help raise concentration. I know for myself a long period of no sex will cause me to get frustrated easier and reduce my patience which in turn always hurted my performance in competition. I know many others who feel the same way. As a matter of fact I know a few who must have sex the night before competition. You sleep better too.

PT, no sex that day: 169

Sex, followed by a PT an hour later: 168

11 hours of sleep, then PT: 174

You guys are talking about the wrong variable!
