Hey guys, I'm having brain death from staring at this too long.
No need to even solve the question, I just want to know what the stimulus is saying.

"A skeleton of a North American mastodon that became extinct at the peak of the Ice Age was recently discovered. It contains a human-made projectile dissimilar to any found in that part of Eurasia closest to North America. Thus, since Eurasians did not settle in North America until shortly before the peak of the Ice Age, the first Eurasian settlers in North America probably came from a more distant part of Eurasia."


Did the North American mastodon die in North America, but has a Eurasian projectile inside of it because Eurasians walked over into North America and killed it?

OR

Did the North American mastodon walk over to a part of Eurasia that is closest to North America, and then die in Eurasia?

Or, is it neither (?) lol.

Any help would be appreciated!

The mastodon died in North America, presumably killed by a projectile made by a Eurasian nomad who was also in North America at the time.

For this stimulus, it's important to consider the timeline of the mastodon's death and the Eurasian's migration to North America. The projectile was found in a mastodon that supposedly went extinct at the peak of the Ice Age. Eurasians didn't settle in North America until shortly BEFORE the peak of the Ice Age. Since the projectile found in the mastodon doesn't resemble any of the projectiles found in nearby-Eurasia, the author concludes that the first Eurasian settlers probably came from a distant part of Eurasia.

It's a pretty flimsy argument, so understandably this is a Weaken question.

IMO this is a bullshit question. Just because the Mastodon contains a human-made projectile unlike any found in that part of Eurasia, does not mean that it wasn't killed by near-Eurasian hunters using a type of projectile not previously discovered.

I think that post is meant to warn people about discussion questions from unreleased tests, and specifically those they had just taken.
