Top Law Schools

Mathew Riley was my instructor. Man why go to law school when you have your own company and can teach people and be a stand up comedian at the same time? The 180 is the reason he and his test prep company are successful- so its not like he got it for nothing.

If I got a 180, and truly enjoyed teaching, I would certainly consider making a business out of it. Kids will always be taking the LSAT, and you can charge a very high rate if you tutor in a city location. You get to do something you enjoy, you are your own boss, you don't have to work crazy hours, etc. Lots of reasons to do it. Getting a 180 says nothing about how good a lawyer the person would make. Perhaps he is better suited to teaching anyway. Can't say for sure.

I'm not sure if getting a 180 would make you a good teacher. I did well, but not 180 well, and I'd make a horrible teacher of the LSAT. I think someone who brute forced their way from 155 to 170 would make a better teacher.

Semi-sidetracking, but my friend's brother graduated with a 4.0 from MIT. I begged him to take the LSAT and apply to law school just to see what would happen.

Why? Someone like that should be productive member of society and do something they have pasion for.

Yeah I know but I just wanted him to apply for shits and giggles. He actually is finishing his masters at MIT now and is getting ready to enter their doctoral program next year. So good on him.

I got a 180 and I may never go to law school.

I know Nick (he and I both taught for Blueprint in Berkeley - he's still there), and I can attest to the fact that he seems pretty set on not going to law school. It's a bit silly to think that if you have a perfect score you would certainly want to go. I have a 178 (no 180, but still pretty good), and I'm fairly sure I'm not going to go. If any of you guys had a 45 of the MCAT, would you go to med school?

A lot of people who teach the lsat are weirdos who are good at taking specifically designed tests and who wouldn't cut it as a lawyer in the big-boy world. My opinion on these matters.

the type of person that 180's probably has more interesting things to look forward to than a life of law drudgery.

About instructors being naturally good test takers: this is often true, but a lot of instructors aren't necessarily naturally good test takers, but rather studied for it. I got very average SAT and AP test scores, and I originally PT'd at a 162 after having looked over some LSATs and familiarizing myself with them. A 162 is admittedly kinda high for a diag (and it really wasn't a cold diag either), but it's not astronomical. The only reason I got a 178 is that I studied like fucking hell in my LSAT class, not because I'm a natural test-taker.

As for not cutting it as a lawyer in the big-boy world, that's definitely true. I love teaching the LSAT, and I don't think I could handle a job that makes me wake up before 2pm more than once a week.

haha damn, that's hilarious. I mean, I am all for you doing whatever you want but 2? Anyways, it is ridiculous to expect everyone who gets a 180 (or in your case a 178) to go to law school. I mean, anyone who gets a score that high could bust their ass (or not, in some cases) and do the same on the GRE and GMAT, so are they supposed to get 15 degrees just because they can?

a little different -- i can understand not going when you have a 180, but id go if i got a 45 (since it is impossible)...i mean, id be doing something that really helped ppl lol...and on a diff lvl than biglaw does
