Post your progress once complete

Post by theZeigs » Tue Mar 09, 2010 9:40 pm

I thought it might be helpful if people were to post their score progress when already complete with LSAT.

For example, let's say you took 20 practice tests. It might be helpful for others to see your diagnostic, your 19 scores as you studied, and your final (test day) score. Any other information (how long studied, which PTs taken in which order, how often took PTs, any time off, etc.) might also be useful. Obviously, a positive trend would generally be seen, but maybe people can get an idea of how quickly scores will improve and relatively, how much deviation there is test to test, and maybe even relative difficulties of tests (if you saved this info).

If you've saved this information (spreadsheet or just jotted down) and can post, it would be interesting to me and probably other TLSers.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: If anyone wants to PM me their chart so that it doesn't go public (i.e. your name is not associated with it) I can simply put up the results as "anonymous" and put the scores in the thread. Obviously, I will delay the time between you sending it to me and it being posted so that, if you happened to write in the thread, it's not easy to figure out your score; I can also make any other appropriate edits as requested (e.g. get rid of data on how you felt on test day, etc.).

I think that any format is useful. If you just wanted to post score 1, score 2, score 3 etc. that's fine.

Perhaps a very useful one would be comma delimited, e.g.:

date, PT number, score,
date, pt number, score,
...
date, pt number, score,

Hard returns per line make it easy to import into excel for any statistical analysis. You could include other "columns" as well, if you had e.g. notes on how you felt on test day or notes on how many you guessed correctly, or whatever. If you already have the excel file, you can just save as a *.csv (comma separated values file) and then open with notepad and copy-paste into the forums.

It's a complicated chart (PT#, source, date, general comments, raw score, real score, 1st take, 2nd take...), and I took just about every PT I could find. I'm willing to e-mail the excel file, but I'm not sure I want to make it public.

I don't think you'll find it helpful anyway, since I don't have any details about the crucial period during which I went from a 152 diagnostic to the 170's. I was stuck in the 160's for about a month, but I didn't record those. All of the detailed entries are pretty much for scores in the 170's.

This is a good point.

Going to edit the first post and put this info there as well.

Unemployed, it's too bad you don't have the 160's data, but I will be honest that it's encouraging to me personally that you were stuck there for a month. I'm feeling the blues in the same way. If you want to send me the data, that would be great.

47 and superprep A and C were "bad days," with everything from being hung over to loud construction in the library to blame. i think the june 07 curve really didn't reflect that test's difficulty... at least for me :/

the percentile column is pretty useless, but it came with the spreadsheet.

LG is a LOT better than it used to be, but still missing stupid points.

I'll edit once i finish 51-59

From January through April, I slowly went through the LGB, took about one test a month to see where I was (low was a 164, high was a 170), and didn't focus on test-taking until finals ended. I had a pretty good grip on LR and RC already, or else I would have read the Bibles on those too.

These are listed in the order I've taken them over the past month, which was pretty arbitrary. There's a focus on the new ones, but I wanted to mix in some old ones for variety. All of these are timed and four sections unless noted otherwise.

SuperPrep B -- 171, -13 (-7 LG, -4 LR, -2 RC)
PT 50 -- 172, -8 (-2 LG, -3 LR, -3 RC)
PT 29 -- 173, -9 (-3 LG, -5 LR, -1 RC)
PT 53 -- 170, -11 (-3 LG, -5 LR, -2 RC) [inc. experimental]
PT 30 -- 178, -5 (-1 LG, -2 LR, -2 RC)
PT 48 -- 174, -5 (-2 LG, -2 LR, -1 RC)
PT 54 -- 175, -6 (-0 LG, -4 LR, -2 RC)
PT 51 -- 180, -1 (-0 LG, -1 LR, -0 RC)
PT 57 -- 176, -5 (-1 LG, -4 LR, -0 RC) [inc. experimental]
