Dirt to Gold: Share Your LSAT Success Story

Post by clouds101 » Tue Feb 09, 2010 11:59 am

I've been studying for the LSAT for the past two months for the June test but I'm starting to hit a slump (apathetic to studying). It helps to know that other people have come out through this stressful process with good results. And for test takers who've managed a significant jump, please share your advice!

160 to 176. Took every PT I could get my hands on. I think I was taking one every two days at one point.

case in progress, 134 to mid 150s. looking for low to mid 160s.

edit: focus on accuracy first then timing. if timing is still an issue remember quality not quantity. good luck.

I'll go ahead and admit it, I took the LSAT 3 times. First two were 148, 3'rd was 158. "They" say that in general people cant increase more than 2 or 3 points, especially after identical performances. It made for a really good addendum!!!

i started studying in late march/early april, my diagnostic was 162, after a few weeks in the mid 160s I shot up to 168/169 and eventually plateau'd at 170. after that, no matter what i tried, i could not raise my score any higher. ten days before the real lsat i got a 167 on a very recent practice test and was at my lowest morale. i took 6 exams in the last 8 days, my highest score was a 172 (but i cheated slightly cuz i went over about a minute on one section). on the real exam i got a 175.

not everyone does worse on the real test, i was *much* more focused than i ever was on any PT i took. all of my friends told me to expect a 2-3 point drop from my PT scores, but i think in the end you are the one who is fully in control, and no one else's mentality or results should have an affect on your attitude going in. i felt the same after the real test as i did after all my PTs, i didn't think it was really easy or too difficult, but that extra bit of focus and awareness of timing on test day provided a definite edge.

best of luck, even if you aren't consistently scoring your target, there is always hope.
