I signed up for one on the 18th. Does anyone know which test it is, or whether it's even been issued by LSAC (I have most of them). Not sure if I should bother but it does say something about useful strategies after the test. I don't suppose it's tailored to me... Also, how do you take a test from your computer? Seems like it'd be hard.

I am interested in this as well. I signed up for one on Feb 27th. Are they just going to bombard me and try to get me to sign up for their class? I feel like it is going to be one of those "here's a free weekend getaway...now listen to our 8 hour talk about our timeshares!"

The practice test is a real PrepTest. (PT36, if you're interested in knowing.)

Most of the time will be simply the proctoring of the exam. OP: I don't know what you mean by taking the exam on the computer -- it's a paper and pencil test, just like the actual LSAT.

Of course, there will be a brief (i.e., not 8 hours!) discussion after the exam that explains our course options and answers questions about our classes. If there's a teacher at the event, he or she may lead you through a couple of strategies that apply to the test you took.

If you're taking the exam at one of our local centers, then that discussion will take place as they're scoring your test and printing your results.

If you have more specific questions, feel free to PM me.

I say, take the practice test but not the course. I took the Kaplan course but was so unprepared for yesterday's test.

are the answers/explanation/scale available anywhere online? i took it back in October but im starting to study now and i want to review the test...

more specifically, im interested in the scale if possible

I took a Kaplan practice test this past weekend, and they let us keep the test booklet after we were finished. Yesterday I was e-mailed my results, and attached were pdf files of my score, and a detailed rundown of how I did on each section, as well as a key of my answers and the correct answers. I'm not sure if your practice test did it the same way... but it sounds like what they sent me is what you're looking for, unless I'm misinterpreting your question.

yah i have the booklet and i have my score and breakdown but i dont have the scale. thanks above poster.

There are in person, sit down, pencil and paper practice tests and there are online practice tests. It's the same test. The online test is convenience thing; especially for people no longer in school, the online practice tests are a really good option.

You should get to keep your booklet after the test. Then, what will happen is someone will either print out your results before you leave the "test site", you will get your results emailed to you, or you will pick up the results in a few days.
If you score really high, they will call you either to offer you a job or the high scorers only class.
The explanations are online.

Also, for those who are curious, after the test, the teacher will do a few sample questions(this will take maybe five minutes) and explain them, give you a few tips. Then, there will most likely be a drawing for a free course, lots of money off a course, etc. Then, if you have any questions about Kaplan, they will answer them for you. Easy, quick, and painless. It's not a thirty minute presentation or anything like that.

Did you do all the homework and study outside of class ? If you did all of the work, and you weren't absent all of the time in class, you can take the class again as many times as you want for free while you prepare to take it again. You should also go to the center and take more proctored practice tests. There are a lot of options for extra practice that you can, and should, utilize within the course that you paid for. Do it. I believe that every preptest is also online with full explanations(the right answer and all of the wrong answers are explained). Talk to the director of your center if you need to, they are usually very accommodating if you are unhappy with your result.

Very interesting post. Thanks. Could they really call you up and offer you a job based on how you score on the practice test? That seems surprising, especially knowing as we do now that it's PT 36. It would be pretty easy for someone to have the answer key in hand while taking it online. Even if someone isn't blatantly cheating, if they have taken PT 36 once or twice already as I have, they would have a big boost in score. I bring this up because I would love to be an instructor for Kaplan. It's actually something I've been thinking about. But they would need to be assured that a candidate is qualified.

They would make you take another one for hiring purposes or have you take the real test. If you have a 90% percentile score on the real test, you can be hired as a run of the mill LSAT instructor. To have better chances of actually getting the job it would need to much higher, depending on where you live(i.e. how desperate they are for another LSAT instructor).
