Ecosystems with cool, dry climates are populated by large animals. No ecosystems populated by large animals have abundant and varied plant life.

How would you diagram this?

I would use if/then statements.

if ecosystem w/ cool, dry climate --> large animals
if ecosystem w/ large animals --> no abundant and varied plant life

How would you diagram this?
All E = L
No L = A

Thus, No E = A or No A = E

?

E = Ecosystems with cool, dry climates
L = populated by large animals
A = have abundant and varied plant life

wouldn't it be

E -> L
L -> ~A
∴ E -> ~A

I suggest you stop worrying about how to diagram the stimulus and instead zone in on the obvious inferences, in full sentence form:

-No ecosystem with cool, dry climates has abundant and varied plant life.

OR

-Any ecosystem with abundant and varied plant life does not have a cool, dry climate.

Don't make things harder than they are. You've got to be able to make these sorts of deductions mentally within just a few seconds. It just takes a little practice.
