What kind of snack to keep the energy up but not get a mind-altering sugar rush?

but seriously granola bars, protein bars, and fruit are three really safe bets...pick what you leike the best outta the three of them
i always preferred protein bars bc they have some carbs, some fats and obviously some protein all in one bar as opposed to the granola bars which are very low in protein (or at least quality protein), and fruit which has essentially no protein or fats.

I usually down one of those bottled coffee drinks, but I live on caffine so I need a non-soda boost. Something small, non-messy. A bag of almonds, apple slices. It is only 5 hours in the room, so it isn't like you get to the break starving. Make sure you eat a decent breakfast and it really won't be an issue.

If I eat a protein bar and then don't exercise it sits like a rock in my stomach...

Half a peanut butter sandwich, and an apple. walk around while you eat.
I'm a caffeine junkie so I made some really strong black tea the night before, stuck it in the fridge, and in the morning poured it in my water bottle that I brought to the test site to chug during break. worked great.

Cliff Bars. They're good energy food, not overly filling, and can be eaten quickly without causing any problems.

The first time I think I ate peanuts. The second time I had some sort of granola bar and an orange juice.

I'm a huge caffeine fiend. I limited my morning coffee-intake to two cups so I wouldn't have to pee during the exam. Drank one of these at the break, and I felt totally alert during sections 4 and 5. Luckily, I got RC for section 4, and December's was supposedly pretty rough. I went -2, and I'm sure the caffeine didn't hurt.

am I the only 1 who has to pee like crazy due to nervousness? If I have even a gulp of water, by 15 minutes of section 4 Ill be dying to run to the bathroom..

I don't know if it's nervousness so much as an overactive metabolism, but anything caffeinated goes straight through me. There's no way I could have had even a few ounces of coffee before the test or I'd have had to get up during a section or been distracted trying to hold it.
When we were registering, there were all these people with huge cups of coffee, clutching them until the last minute, and I was like "you silly people are going to have to pee during the test." And many of them did.
Your adrenaline should do the trick, anyway.
