i cant seem to get a grip on it. i tried just doing 3 passages but still nothing significant. ive read most of the RCB and practiced lsat passages but i dont know what else i can do to improve.

How are you approaching RC right now?

with only doing three passages im at, on average, 15/27.

I would recommend 1. slowing it down. read slower and make sure you understand what you're reading. and 2. slow it down again. make sure you know exactly what the prompt is asking you, otherwise you will always get tripped up by the easy questions. 3. try, even though sometimes its so hard, to perosnalize what you're reading. tell yourself it's interesting and that you want to learn what you're reading.

better to get 24/27 because you read very slowly than to get 15/27 because you didnt read slowly enough

thanks. im going to try this out next week. hopefully i can get at least 20+ on RC.

My TestMasters teacher always reminded us how important it is to really be engaged with the reading. Ask yourself what you think will happen in each paragraph before you read it. Try as hard as you can to be interested in what you're reading. It's tough but I think it helped me a little.

It seems that you may be just reading to answer the questions.

The key is to allow yourself to "fall" into the passage- that is read with a positive attitude and read actively.

Also, try to visualize what you are reading, it may help.

when i first started out i was at 20/27 with doing all 4 passages on RC. but since i started improving in LR i seem to get bogged down into every word.

i ordered the economist and will continue to do more RC passages. i will focus on the general feeling of the passage instead of the details. thanks.

The key for me was not being too formulaic. I didn't try to do any magic diagrams or anything -- I would just read through the passage, underline stuff that seemed to be making a point, and went with my instincts on the questions. I worked backwards from answer choices I knew were wrong -- trying to cross off as many as possible, get it down to maybe 2 choices and then I'd go back to the passage to find the right answer.

Another key, I think, is to keep moving. Don't get paralyzed by one difficult or tricky question -- it's better to miss a few tough questions than to guess on an entire passage because you didn't get to it.

And of course, practice. The more sections you do, the more familiar it becomes and the faster you get. The topics and questions start to feel like deja vu -- passage about Native American law, African American art, etc.

me too but only because im bad at them.



well im going to drill RC passages for the next month. im just going to focus on the passage with no/minimal underlining or notetaking. just going to get a feel of the general passage and structure.

To get the structure down it might really help you to circle the different viewpoints in the topic. And after you read each paragraph make a little mini-summary in your head and connect it to your previous paragraphs. Finally, decide the main point before you look the questions.

My first LSAT I was -15 on RC, my second LSAT I was -2. Take alot of practice tests, read SLOWLY but EFFICIENTLY.

I also found that it helps to predict the answer when doing PT's.

Also, remember there is one answer that is 100 percent correct and the others are WRONG! Don't try to justify answers to yourself.
