Simple tip for principle questions?

For principle questions that offer up a principle akin to "Honorable -> thoughtful AND virtuous" and then ask for situations which most conform to that principle, do you immediately toss out any answer that starts with "X acted honorably because..."?

It seems that no amount of conformity with the necessary conditions could allow us to determine that a person is honorable; rather, the only thing we can determine is when the principle is violated.
