I keep on getting the same amount of questions wrong on LR section. When i review the answers i understand why my answer was wrong (in addition to the other wrong answers) and why the correct answer was correct. But everytime I take a preptest I constantly keep on making these mistakes. Any suggestions on how to overcome this?

If this test was not timed most all of us would be getting the 180. Have you figured out why you are missing them and are you routinely missing the same class of questions?

OP, the trick is that you just THINK you are undertsand it when, in reality, you merely have a great reason to believe that your response is inferior to the credited. It's like trying to justify something that you already know is right. Imagine that the one you've chosen is the correct one, you would come up with a thousands of reasons of why this specific one is better than any other (I hope this babbling makes sense)

To think like a test writer is the key to understanding the test and being able to improve dramatically. A lot of people talk about it, but not too many are able to experience it. You should be able to look at the problems and be able identify exactly what's going on there and preferably be able to see those little tricks test makers employ, to see exactly why they have used that specific word instead of the other. Every word on the LSAT is there for a reason and you should be able know this reason.

The above is my latest epiphany, some might disagree with me, though.

I agree. Since I finished my test and ended my own studying I have been spending a fair amount of time tutoring a friend, and in really trying to break it down for him I have gained a greater appreciation for the question writers and, I think, better understanding of LR questions.

OP, I would hazard a guess that you really are not understanding your reviewed questions as well as you think. Maybe you should post some here and get input from the many great takers to compare with your own understanding.

Also agree. The best feeling on an LR question is finding the "shell game" answer, figuring out how the test maker was trying to jerk with you, and then being able to get the right answer and know why its right.

I used to be amazed at the people that talked about missing 2 LRs TOTAL on a given LSAT, but the more you play with it, the more you realize that there is a single correct answer to every question, and there are only so many ways that the psychometricians can try to fool you.

BTW the LR Bible was a huge help to me. Went from -8 per section to -0 to -4 for the whole test.

Just trying to give "most all of us" the benefit of the doubt but you are correct, can't speak for anyone but myself. But really though, I am a 99 percenter when allowing myself whatever time possible. In that regard, my biggest stumbling block in LR is timing issues.
