You will never get into Harvard or Yale. Its over. Stanford if you're lucky. Sorry to burst your bubble, but they average scores, so even with a 180 you are still fucked, and you're not getting a 180.
Instead of re-taking, start aiming for schools in the T-20 list, for example, Cornell and Georgetown. Cornell has an excellent reputation in academia.

If Law Schools could calculate grad GPAs for their statistics you could have a chance at Harvard or Yale with retake, unfortunately they do not. But fortunately they record the highest LSAT, guess you can't have everything. Although it seems it would be more fair to record the former.

Thanks for the input, guys. It's what I figured. A girl can dream, right? Upside is, I won't retake. I am so sick of the lsat!

How do you figure? A 165, 170, and 180 averages to just under a 172. A 172 is a respectable score for applying to Harvard — with a 3.6 (which is a little low for HYS), LSAC puts your chances at somewhat under 25%. That's not a great shot, but it's not zero. Same sort of deal applies with, say, a 175, which averages to a 170.
So if you think you can pull off a 175+, it seems as though it'd take you from nearly zero chance to a long shot. I don't know if that's really worth it, but that's up to you.

Good decision, you have 165, 170..3.6 (4.0 in PHD) probably should just focus on getting admitted to a top school (and if you do well enough, maybe transfer if all goes well), however, harvard averages, so its not looking good for u. and yale is def a no. since you mentioned your kinda stuck in mass and ct area....uconn, bc, bu.....would be better targets with your scores. good luck! you have a good shot at other schools in t-20.

Trust me neimanmarxist, I felt pretty shitty when my dreams of NYU went out the window with a gay 169 instead of my planned 175.
But once you re-adjust your goals you will realize that there are plenty of amazing law schools in the top 20 and top 30 whose graduates come out with 160k+ a year jobs. An example would be UCLA, which you would be accepted to in a heartbeat (don't apply if you don't want it though, I'm trying to get in!!!), or Cornell, or Georgetown.
Seriously, Harvard isn't all it cracks up to be anyways thanks to this shit-ass economy, even harvard graduates are struggling.

Using "gay" as a pejorative? Real nice.

In a dilemma and not certain what to do. Any thoughts on my situation would be appreciated.
I have taken the LSAT twice. The first time, I choked and scored far below my practice test average (175-ish) with a 165. It was a sad day. The second time, I did substantially better and am quite happy with my 170.
Thanks

I know how you feel. I was getting 171-173 on PT's and I got so nervous and scored a 166 on test day. I'm planning on re-testing.

Yeah I might expect that on Top Middle Schools, but not here. And really, NYU was your dream? I don't think people who use "gay" as a pejorative are a very good cultural fit for Greenwich Village. I hear Regent is near the beach, Sourpunch...
