Registered to take June 2010 LSAT...shooting for 170, started with a diagnostic of 153...going to use an adapted version of pithypike's guide...advice, tips, anyone in/been in the same situation, too much to expect???

As in, this is very doable. However, it is dependent on discipline and persistence. You must review what you do. You must also do as much as you can without over stressing yourself. I was able to take 3 5 section exams a week, and though I may have been able to do 4, I thought it would be overkill and frankly just hurt my learning experience. Identifying your weaknesses and finding a solution to deal with such weaknesses is what will allow you to gain your 17 point increase.

I scored >170 after starting with a diagnostic in the high 150s. Keep in mind this was more than 2 years and a 160-something later, but I did it. It's totally doable. Especially if a lot of your mistakes were on similar question types.

Just a couple of months ago I was regularly missing 5-7 questions per LR section (sometimes as many as 8 or 9). I've taken all 30 exams in the green, blue, and purple books, and after I finished each LR section I would classify the questions by type and plug them into my master Microsoft Word list of question types. I reviewed each question and all answer choices thoroughly. I'm now consistently missing 0-2 per LR section, and the confidence I've gained from LR improvement has transferred over to the other sections, as well (when PTing, I'm not as worried about mistakes I made in prior sections because there aren't as many of them).

I didn't take a full diagnostic like you did, but I can assure you mine wouldn't have been much higher than 153. I'm now testing in the low-to-mid 170's, and there's plenty of time between now and Feb. 6.

Definitely doable. Went from a 155 diagnostic to 173-176 regularly on practice tests in a month (doing the real thing in february, so I don't know how ill actually perform yet XD). Went through a lot of exams though. U'll be fine if you study.

diagnostic in the mid-150s (don't remember exactly) with a highest LSAT of 173. i have taken every PT known to man, taken half of them twice and read both the bibles twice.

I made the unfortunate decision a while back to take the official LSAT without ever having taken a PT. I scored about a 153. Took it again this December, having prepared: 171. Your jump is totally feasible. Do consult pithypike's guide, especially for LG preparation. You might not need all the stuff he suggests; I only used the Bibles, the books of LSAT tests, and PTS 45-57. But overall, his advice is top-notch.

153 to 170 is very possible - but you'll have to earn it. Don't expect it to come.

i took my diagnostic in june/july ish. and got a 157
sept lsat - 161
dec lsat - 174

doable, just gotta get into the rhythm of things

Doable, (for some people). If you're one of those people who can perform in the top 2 percent I wouldn't even say it necessarily requires a ton of work. Just persistence and really looking at what you're "doing wrong". Improvement on the LSAT can come suddenly and unexpectedly. Hang in there!
