I mean if I score higher then I'll have a better chance at a top tier school and hopefully possible scholarship for some other schools. If I bomb it then hopefully they'll just pretend it didn't happen lol I just don't want to take the chance if it might hurt my chances of getting in. :(

Btw thanks so much for your comments, its been very helpful and reassuring :)
I don't know anything about you, your stats, your study habits, how you've scored previously or even what cycle you're applying in so I'm not really in a position to give you tailored advice. If you've been studying (and studying the the right way) for Feb and have the time to continue studying, I can't see why not but again, that doesn't take into account literally any of your circumstances since I'm not aware of them.

Thank you for your honesty. I have the time to study. I've been averaging around 168-170 on my pretests. If I can get remotely close to that in Feb I will be content. I score around a 160 in September. I've taken all the pretests 1-74 at least one time each. Most of the tests I have taken about 3-4 times. I've been reviewing all my answers, wrong or right, and have been taking timed prep-tests consistently. If I decide to go for it I really need to figure out a very detailed way of how to increase my score that 8 to 10 points. I know It is possible the only question is whether I should go for it or just take what Ive got and stop whining about it.

Thank you
I took it in December. The LG was pretty hard, but I think everything else was relatively easy.

Aren't you PT'ing in the 170s?
Yea I haven't broken 170 yet and I this was just my thought process, not saying its exactly how you should decide things haha. I tend obsessive about things and am an overachiever which sucks sometimes. You might be perfectly fine and your score might shoot up in the last 4 weeks, I think it happens frequently enough. Mine most likely won't because I won't be able to put enough work in

Ok I officially went for it!!! Here goes nothing. I have a feeling this time around I will be here quite often lol Does anyone have any recommendation on how to remain focus. That is a HUGE problem for me, especially with RC.

stimulants.

practice dude. it gets interesting the better you get at it, really. You're like "hell ya RC, i've been doing much better on this recently." Its not the subject material that gets more interesting, its that you're getting closer to your goal

I also keep my focus through my notation system. Circling proper nouns and dates. Dashing to the side of the text where an example is, putting AO for authors opinion sentences, putting MP for main points, and underlining important info

Is there any value taking untimed, individual sections at this point? I've been scoring 3-4 points higher on blind review than under timed so I'm inclined to think that untimed sections may help.

Probably not at this point. I would say untimed sections/PT's would be helpful for a complete noobie just starting out.

woah guys, at this point I would probably get your timing down! My biggest problem the 1st time I ever took the test was timing. I was averaging, probably around 33 minutes each section, and was fairly confident going in. However, time FLIES on test day. You are more deliberate in everything that you do, and its much harder to beat the clock. If you haven't been timing yourself at this point, its definitely time for that, because its a process. A marathon, not a sprint, as some would say. It takes a while.

+1
If 33 minutes does not seem enough with the test day hive, would you recommend practicing within say a 30-32 min limit?

This is how I timed myself for test #2 (increased 5 points with almost no extra studying, so I'm blaming this for the increase, lol)

I time myself 30 minutes for LG, 32 minutes for LR (I stick to the "finish first 12 questions in 12 minutes" plan and this is easy as pi to achieve) and I time RC for 25 minutes. The RC is sorta where it makes the greatest impact. I make sure I finish 3 passages in 25 minutes so I have a full 10 minutes to take it slow for the last one. My first test I made the mistake of going too slow on RC, and my proctor said the 5 minute warning as I was on the last question of passage 3.... so I freaked out. I rushed. I said "how the hell do I do the last one in 5 minutes. I can't read it!" So I just read the questions and tried to quickly scan the passage for the answer. Missed all but one in the last section. Screwed my confidence for the rest of the test.
2nd time I took the test, I finished both RC sections (had exp one) in 32 minutes because of my timing method. Unorthodox, but it works. If you can train yourself to answer the questions FASTER than test conditions permit, theoretically you can always go back and change circled questions. You'll have AT LEAST 3 minutes on each section to change things up. Got 2 more right in December because of it

ahh okay. Thanks! I'll keep this in mind. Ever since I postponed and took a month off from PT'ing, I really focused on drilling w/ accuracy and think I naturally improved my timing there. I started up doing section drilling last week and am noticeably faster as well as confident. With about 4 weeks left, I'll make sure I can do a section in less than 32 minutes. I honestly feel like if you can force yourself to be in the zone, you won't have to waste precious seconds having to reread a stimulus or sentence just because you weren't paying attention on the first go.

hate when I feel like I have a productive night, avoiding TLS, getting some sets done & reviewing... and then realize how little I actually got done but was really all I could get in within my free time...

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
