Does anyone want to share target schools? Is that too much information to scrub at a later date?
I know this will jinx the hell out of me, but what ever. It's only grad school, right?

My top couple are Iowa, BC, and ASU. I'll apply ED to Cornell just because why not. If my score really makes me cry, then I'll ED ASU to bring me back to reality.

I'm coming from a finance background and just out of curiosity: do people ever use the term models and bottles in law?

Disclaimer: I am not actually of that mentality. I am just curious as to what some of the foolish 0L's think of associate life.

Yes for TLS, though much more sarcastically. Can't speak for the actual legal practice.

Wait do finance people actually use that phrase non-ironically?

Some will, but there aren't tons of them by any means. I'm on the buy-side now, and it's much more toned down than the sell side frat boys.

There are some posters from finance ITT. I'm assuming they're not doing law for money.

Anyone who is going into this profession for money alone is going to be sorely disappointed. Personally, I'm going to try to do USAO or broader DOJ work; I don't have any underlying passion for putting criminals away, or for helping sue companies in violation of US regulations (or defending the government from such suits), but I definitely do appreciate the role that litigation attorneys, and legal advocacy in general, plays in civil society. I think it's a some combination of a career that provides value to society, that I'm good at/enjoy doing (remains to be seen, but hard to predict for any profession really), and that provides an acceptable/comfortable lifestyle in terms of income and hours.

I completely agree. This is why I'm attempting to go with law over finance. Although the first years of law are filled with crazy hours, it's something I feel like I wont suffer from burn out. I can only do excel analysis on bonds for so long.

I've always loved arguing (grew up with all sisters) and enjoy working out deals. I thought I would love JAG, but I think corporate law is where my true interests stand.

On the topic of going into law for money (or because you think Suits is a cool show, which, while I agree with you, I hope there certainly is not anyone ITT for whom that is a reason to go to law school), this thread should be required reading:

There are easier ways to make money than 7 years of schooling. So if that's the sole goal, it's an inefficient process to do it through law school.

Personally, I feel like law is one of the few things I can do that I can become really good at and feel like I'd enjoy. And people pay you lots when you're good at what you do. If there was another profession I thought I could become really good at I'd prolly do that Instead.

It's like that Comparison passage in RC about success, money and happiness

I'm guessing people that want to do law school solely for money are already in UG going in a particular path that doesnt lead to big finance or google or whatever (or out of UG already). If youre making this decision before UG then lol yeah, lawyring for money is dumb.

Day 10 post-LSAT

I have been reduced to looking up LSAC's offices on Google Street View. Turns out they're in an exceptionally bland office park that's across the street from a cemetery and the College Board. Oddly fitting, don't you think?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
