I live about 30 minutes from nyc and I rarely go. I also havent been to most popular tourist locations there either. But I was once a tourist in Boston and it was awesome

Roosevelt Island? I've never actually been there but my aunt did have an apartment there for like a year. Relatively small island and I think you can walk all of it from one end to the other in like 20(?) minutes. You should definitely pull up to NYC :D

yeah I am obsessed with the history of NYCs islands (if anyone's interested: http://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/is ... l-s-island)

Not much to do on Roosevelt but I've heard some funny day trip stories from there and it's a bit outside the box

If you haven't, head to Governor's Island. I believe you can rent bikes there (or take your own) and it seems like a good time with friends!
