I am starting to write my personal statement, but I am curious as to how much time I might have ahead of me before being finished. I am just wondering how long it took some of you from your initial draft to your final one.

I've been working on my for about a month and went through about 7 incomplete drafts.... but I just finished a solid first draft last night after deciding on an angle. I'm giving myself another 2 weeks and hoping it'll be ready to submit after that.

Good luck!!

Been working on it for two weeks. Probably about another week and then I´ll submit apps.

EDIT: What turned out to be much more time consuming than I originally thought was the resume.

once i found the angle i could live with, it was pretty simple, but still a couple hours a day for about a 4 days editing.
Just the draft I decided to keep: 4 hours, and then 1 more for editing after feedback

How long have I spent on personal statements? about 20 hours over the course of a month and a half

I started back in March because one of my LOR writers wanted to see a draft. After about five different topics and a million edits, I finally decided I had a finished product in August. It was nice to have plenty of time to give the thing a rest for a few days (weeks, even) and come back to it with fresh eyes. So yeah, I guess I worked on mine for a long time.

It took me a month-ish. I had about 6 drafts, and had 4 different people review it/provide comments: my boyfriend, his dad, my classmate & good friend from UG, and an UG professor.

The idea for my PS came to my head about a year before I wrote it. But after I actually got in down on paper, it was about 3 weeks of edits before I hammered out the final product.
