Can you add 10 points to your LSAT score?

Realistically. ( I know we're talking averages here and its all subjective)

I know this is very broad - and there is no real "answer", but input would be appreciated!

So I finally took my first practice LSAT today, without studying and I got a 155. Mediocre as far as I understand, but definitely good enough to get into some safety schools.

Forgetting what schools I might get into and all that, my question is how many points can I expect to see after studying for two months? I'm taking the September LSAT.

If I can get 160-high 160's range score I would be psyched. Will studying - not taking a class - realistically help me get these 5+ points. How many points have people improved after studying? Thanks!

You will def make it around the 160 range. Keep on studying.

Many people on these boards have 10+ pt improvement. +14 for me. It is possible.

I'd say 5 point improvement should definitely be within reach after 2 months hard study.

I went up 15! I took a Kaplan course and studied about 2 hours a day for a month... You definitely can! Keep studying :)

i started with a 155 and worked up 20 points. with efficient/good study habits + a few books and/or a class it is possible to go up that much.

yes.

Step 1: Leave hundreds and ones digit as they are.
Step 2: Make tens digit one larger.

Personally... I went from 157 to 170, a 13 point gain.

Broadly... Princeton Review advertises their average student gain after taking one of their prep courses is 12 points.

With enough prep work (whether it be a prep class, private tutoring, or individual study) a gain of more than 10 points is not only possible but done regularly every year by many dedicated takers.

i took a course but missed about 1/3 of the classes due to working fulltime job, and left most of the classes i did attend about 2 hours early. on my own i studied about 1-2 hours a day, mostly just doing problems from the course books. i never read LG bible or LR bible, and never bought any books outside of the ones in the course. in the last week before the exam I took 3 days off from work and did 2 PTs a day, studying about 8-9 hours a day total, including review.

i improved my score from a 162 to a 170 in the first 2 months of studying, and from a 170 to a 175 in the last week.

im sure you'll get mid 160s if you work hard, 2 months is plenty of time. just keep cranking at it and dont get discouraged by the random low score you might get every once in a while.

I went from 154 cold (taken in Dec.) to 164 on June test. I'm shooting for 170 in Sept.

Set your target higher but in all honesty shoot for a perfect score on each ind. section. Get pissed if you miss more than two and use that anger as motivation to beat this test into submission...

i added almost 20 to mine, and started with a slightly lower diagnostic than you. study well and you likely will add the points you want

I went from a 157 to a 166 in three weeks of studying (taking the LSAT was a bit of a last-minute decision for me!). Make friends with the Powerscore Logic Games book and take as many official PrepTests as you can - I took 10. Good luck! It's totally possible if you work hard. :)

Yeah. You can do it easy just by adding one to the second number in your score and keeping the first and third numbers the same.

155 cold is a pretty solid actually. Depending on where you lost the points, you shouldn't have much trouble cracking the 160s. Knowing next to nothing about you, High 160s or even a 170 is probably doable. Go get em' :D

Yes, it can be done. I went up 12 points from first cold diagnostic to the actual exam. But apparently that makes me the dumbest person to post in this thread.

21 points here. I'm retaking in September, as I think I can do better.

Absolutely you can add 10 points to your LSAT score. My first practice test was a 153. Which for me - I was pretty sad about it. I took a prep course for nearly 2k dollars, and I took the LSAT --- 162. Not too shabby.

Still though, I want to improve my score before applying this fall. I've purchased pretty much every LSAT book there is at this point and the one I am really digging right now is the Powerscore series... I guess every person is different. I'm preparing for the September 2009 LSAT; yesterday my practice test score was a damn impressive 168. And that was TIMED. Still test day could tell a different story, but I haven't even worked on reading comprehension yet.

I think if you are a diligent study, then you can totally just get the books and forego a prep course, especially if you don't have sufficient funds to throw away. My prep course was really good and I did go up a lot, so I'm not talking against it, I just wish I had given it a try with only studying, because maybe I wouldn't have needed the course at all.
