I have an acquaintance who is seeking legal advocacy in a forum that does not strictly require a lawyer. I've found a number of local law student groups that are focused on areas relevant to the matter. I know how to contact a lawyer for this matter, but what's a vague template for what they could send to a law student?

You said you identified student groups, so I'd send the same kind of letter you would send to a lawyer to the group's designated email. If you're reaching out to a clinic, they'll usually provide instructions for how to submit a matter for consideration and what information to include.
