State court of appeals 1L internship

Post by coffee and eggs » Fri Feb 12, 2021 10:01 pm

Just got the call that I'm going to be interning with a state appeals judge for my state and I am super excited. I was wondering how it will look on my resume and what kind of experience I can expect to get during the internship.

You should be excited! It'll be fun and enjoyable. It won't do much on your resume except show you're interested in the law and discovering new things. No extern/internship with a judge is really considered prestigious or anything (as far as I know- maybe doing on with the supreme court or something, hah, but I've never heard of that). A lot of my classmates interned with state and fed judges. However, depending on what work you get to do, it is a great talking point for interviews or whatever. My judge let me do a few assignments like a clerk would and it was a fantastic experience. Enjoy it and best of luck.
