It varies by school and program. Part-time night programs tend to have an older cohort than full-time day programs, even at the same school. Some schools traditionally take older students than others. The most 'typical' student age at a traditional law school is someone in their mid-twenties, a year or two out of college. But folks in their late twenties are common, and I don't think anyone in their early thirties would stand out.

There's a range at every school, and there isn't really an age at which one becomes "too old" for law school (although note that the financial considerations may change significantly as one ages and/or starts raising a family). I had a mentor once who attended law school in his late 40s, and ended up becoming a very successful lawyer.

Im in a night program and the average age for our section is probably late 20s, maybe early 30s. To echo the previous poster, a lady in her 40s has the best grades in our class (she is going to graduate at the top of our class including day students) and she got offers from every major firm at OCI.

Dont mean to derail but yeah had that as well where an older fellow just destroyed everyone and set the curve, got the best grades, and then didnt go biglaw or gov (so took the best grades, but then didnt use them to get a job). Ugh

Agreed, we have quite the range at my school and nobody bats an eye. We also have a couple of very young students, including two that I know of who began 1L at 20.
