Hello, I am a returning combat vet. my gpa 3.4 but LSAC gpa is 2.8. I want to get into GULC part time. I was wondering if being in my current field will give me an advantage over other candidates? I work in intelligence and security as a GEOINT analyst for a decade now. Thinking of getting JD and using my security clearance with it. Not sure if this is a smart move because it would be four years and a lot of work. I would have to work full time during that. Though my job isn't normally stressful. I am interested in staying the government side and doing national security or working for a firm that does it or international law. Contracts, intelligence anything that correlates with my current experience. I think I would do very well in law school. Assuming I did not how likely is it to get into a firm for these things? I could not do an internship with a firm so I am unsure of this being a smart move.

Not much if any. Perhaps for the night program you have a slight advantage because you already have a job in the city, so you're not just some sub-par applicant trying to sneak into the night program.
But your LSAT, LSAC GPA, and race will be the most important factors regardless.

Biglaw probably unlikely if you're below median. GULC is a fine school but I'm not sure how many smaller firms do "intelligence" law. I don't even know what that is. Same goes for "international" law, though some smaller firms do immigration law.

security policy, national security, and any law that would pertain to contracts with DOD/ military, etc.
