You edit articles that are submitted for publication, then you publish them. A lot of it is doing things like checking to see if footnotes are accurate (both content and how they are formatted).

It's something you can do after your first year. People are typically chosen based on first year grades and/or a writing competition you do at your school called "Write on."

It depends on the school, at a lot of places law review members are just the students with the highest 1L GPAs. Other places put more emphasis on the quality of the write on submission, so theoretically even someone at the very bottom of class could make it on to law review by "writing on."
