Cardozo question

Post by HarrisonK » Sat Jul 11, 2015 9:24 am

Is Cardozo considered a tier 2 or tier 3 school? What other schools would you consider to be comparable to Cardozo?

I think Tier 2 is roughly 51-100 on the USNWR rankings, Tier 3 is roughly 101-150. US News rankings can be a shortcut to figuring out a school's peers but really you want to lo identify which schools have similar employment outcomes.

For 2014 Cardozo grads, 223 out of 392 got a full-time long-term bar passage required job (56.9%). 51 got big law or a federal clerkship (13.0%).

Don't consider a school like Cardozo at sticker or close to sticker.

There are certain employment statistics that ABA-accredited law schools are required to release in a standard format. You can typically find them by googling the name of the law school + "employment statistics." Cardozo's are published on their website: https://cardozo.yu.edu/your-career/empl ... statistics

The National Association for Law Placement (NALP) also publishes reports on schools: http://www.lawschooltransparency.com/re ... -Database/

In my first comment I was defining "big law" as firms with 100 lawyers or more.

It doesn't matter. Aim higher/retake or don't go.
