3.92/<160. I received decent scholarships to my top choice schools this cycle, however, I would still have to go into a little more debt than I would like to attend.

If I don't accept one of the offers from the two schools, I will most likely be doing Teach for America for two years and reapplying after. I wold retake the LSAT during this time. Unfortunately, this has been a terrible last semester for me and I am worried about my GPA decreasing and how this will effect my chances when I reapply. Is is really worth retaking if my GPA will be lower when I reapply?

Yes, retake the LSAT. I mean even if you had the worst semester possible and your cumulative GPA dropped to 3.8 somehow, you would be in a much better position with a 167, 3.8 than a 159, 3.92.

I understand your point with 167, 3.8. but since a 167 is a huge stretch for me, I was thinking more of is it worth it for a couple points or would the higher LSAT just cancel out the drop in GPA?

Yep, still worth it since even a 3.8 is still over the 75th almost anywhere.

yeah anything below 170 and anything over 3.75ish is going to be very diminishing returns. Because you will still be over the 75 at any school that has that low of lsat medians.

Just to pile on so you'll hopefully take the advice: retake.

Even if you KNEW your GPA would drop to a 3.7, 8-10 more points on the LSAT more than outweighs the drop. Basically as long as you stay above about a 3.5, raising that LSAT is way more important right now.

If 167 is a huge stretch, then a slight reduction in GPA won't matter at the caliber of schools you'll be applying to.

Definitely retake and reapply after TFA.
Also, don't sell yourself short. Though 167 seems unattainable, I promise you it is very possible to achieve if you study smart and efficiently over a long period of time (since working fulltime).

Retake if even to get into the low 160s. As is, I think that you did well to get accepted with scholarship dollars from Vanderbilt & Emory. Why not retake the LSAT & apply to Texas if you want Dallas biglaw ?
