At the vast majority of law schools your personal income will have nothing to do with the amount of tuition you pay nor the amount of debt you're allowed to go into. A few schools other than HYS give some need based aid, but I don't think it ends up being enough to justify altering wedding plans (and at those few non-HYS schools you're going to have to demonstrate that you're in a legitimately unstable financial situation to qualify for anything).

And As long as you're not planning to get married within like the month before either set of 1L finals, I don't see where there would be any serious timing problems.

I have heard that some (all?) schools factor in parental income... if married, does this 'drop off' in any way? Do they factor in parental income less, or not at all if you're married?

think it was like 26 but might depend on the school. Google like "needaccess" or something like that. It's a company thing a lot of law schools use to measure need-based aid.

Again, you're going to have to be actually poor for this to matter either way, and if it does matter, we're probably not talking about a serious amount of money relative to the cost of ls.

I applied to law school a few years older than 26 and places still wanted my parental info. I think the number might actually be 30.

But yeah, parental info won't matter other than some very narrow cases (i.e. HYS).

If you're worried about the cost of your legal education, retake

I'd probably get married before law school if you can swing it. If not, wait until 1L year is over IMO.

Yeah, it's 29 or 30 at most places, I think. Def not 26.

I know I was getting into it with UCLA and they told me something like if I wasn't 25 or 26 that I needed parent's taxes regardless of what I could prove about my financial independence. Maybe 30 is where they might not ask at all? Don't know. Either way, as Zuck said, retake if you're really concerned about money.

I'm mostly thinking of HYS. Elsewhere it's not going to matter much anyway because the amount of need aid you're likely to get is so small.

HYS is really the only place where this matters. They start phasing out parental income at 26 and parental income is ignored for people 29 or older.
