It still makes the list of Top 50 though for some rankingsGEMJRERCHS wrote:I have heard that hastings law was a great school once, and wikipedia suggests not long ago it was a TOP law school. I also know several successful attornies from hastings. But how come now it ranks 54th in us news ranking, has 30% employment rate for graduates in 9month, and has an average private sector salary of 90000? I cannot find any article online regardin its decline.
Definitely concur on the tuition not being the only reason. The club of 65 was a big deal for Hastings back then too. The law school still holds significant prestige in california and certainly in the Bay Area for practice ready and such. It's Moot Court team is very accomplished.iamgeorgebush wrote:but tuition has similarly risen at berkeley and UCLA...in fact, it's currently even higher at berk and ucla than it is at hastings. the rise in tuition alone can't explain hastings' decline.
also, the highest hastings ever rose was #19 on usnwr, which might have been pretty good back in the golden age of the law, but #19 still isn't "TOP."

Practice ready? Every stupid law school in this country (with the possible exception of Yale) prides itself on its clinical programs, externships, the "tools" it teaches its students to be practice ready.Moonlight wrote:Definitely concur on the tuition not being the only reason.
