Top Law Schools

Hi,

I am a junior at FSU majoring in social work minoring in psychology. I have recently decided I want to go to law school. I want to go to an out of state school because the schools in FL aren't that great. I will need a scholarship. I will not be taking the LSAT until I graduate. I have never been good at standardized tests, I want to get a tutor so I can get the best score possible.

I have a 3.8 right now ( hopefully 3.9 when I graduate)
I am doing a senior thesis
I was an activity coordinator at a retirement facility
I have to do an internship somewhere my last semester
I'm a member of various Honor societies
I will have great letters of rec
I am also a minority because I have a disability.

I am really liking the looks of GW university, difficult to get in though.
I would love anyone's advice on what I should do next, and want law schools offer the best scholarship programs

It seems like you know what you need to do here. Maintain your GPA, take time to study for and subsequently rock the LSAT, and enjoy getting $$$.

You will not be considered a minority for law school admissions purposes. Get that GPA as high as possible, and don't go to law school unless you can get your LSAT up near 170.

Also, the LSAT is totally learnable. Use the guides and advice on this board (there's a whole section of the forum for LSAT prep) and block out 3 months for studying if at all possible. Also do research on law school transparency and only apply to schools with 70% or higher (preferably waaaay higher, like 90% or better) legal full time job placement. This generally, as already indicated, requires a 170 plus on the LSAT. The exception to this, IMO, is a strong regional state school with a significant in state tuition discount that would allow you to graduate with little debt. Even then though 70% or better LST employment is a must.

Having a disability will not get you minority status. However, it may be a good soft for your application. Start studying for the LSAT now, rock it, and enjoy GW. Your GPA is good enough for most schools.

you have a good gpa. do well on the lsat (aim for 170+), and you will be in a good place. come back once you have your score and then worry about which schools to apply to then.
