Ever heard of an LSAT or admissions miracle?

You get a lot of the negative on TLS. Just wondering if anyone has every experienced that fantasy we all have in our heads about magically scoring on test day above what you have PT'd or getting into a school that didn't seem likely.

It's extremely unlikely that someone would jump 5 or more points on test day. I have heard of a pretty big admissions surprise: a kid with a 4.0/154ish stats, not a urm, got into Penn.

I was accepted into Notre Dame with a horrible GPA and LSAT below their median. I think that was miraculous. You can PM me for my numbers. TLS had me believing I would be lucky to crack the T40 but I'm glad I just took a chance and it paid off. I also will be receiving scholly money from Notre Dame. :D

Hmm...I am confused because the ABA data shows a median of 166.

Not sure how they could be ranked 23 with 163 median. Where did you pull your number from? Maybe I'm misinformed.

I'm not seeing the year on that link. Where is it?

I would be shocked if their LSAT was a 166 considering WUSTL's shenanigans and the medians of the top 18 schools.

Guess I'll just be happy with my acceptance and withdraw my contention that it was a miracle. :D

these are the numbers from the most recent cycle

Almost everyone's medians are down because of the drop in applications

I don't quite remember the story, but there was someone on TLS maybe last cycle or so who (I believe) got into yale with a 3.1? I am relating this thirdhand, but I want to say he had a 3.1, but had a really steep upward grade trend and had some wild softs.

Maybe someone who knows more will chime in. I'll try to look up the post where I heard about this miracle and get more info for y'all, but until then, maybe take this with a grain of salt...

Found at least a little info:

There was a non-URM with a 177 and a 3.1 who got yale. Here is a thread discussing it (don't get excited, there's not much info, but there is a link to a thread with his numbers):
http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 3&start=25

Strangely, I feel like this isn't the thread or the person I was thinking of originally, but I guess it must be. I trust my memory less than I trust the idea that Yale doesn't let in many 3.1's.

Sadly, you are not a special snowflake. Their median really is 163 and you were accepted because of your LSAT:

ETA: not that rankings matter, but I'd expect a drop for Notre Dame once the new rankings come out

getting accepted into a mediocre school that will cost you 225k with a marginal chance of repaying your 7% interest debt is hardly a miracle

Does getting into WUSTL with 165 and 2.58 count as a miracle? And tuition is paid for by the G.I. Bill and Yellow Ribbon program so cost is not a factor.

Not when their median drops to a 165. They whore themselves out for median LSAT scores.

I think that girl who wrote Prozac Nation got into Yale with a low 160 LSAT, Yale seems to make exceptions if it's going to get them some prestige or other side benefit (alumni money?).

I initially didn't, but I don't think it's completely unreasonable. She's above one median, and probably had killer LORs, essays, etc, and of all the T14s to overlook a low LSAT berk would be the one.

True. I guess if a 152 can get into Yale, a 149 can get into Boalt.
