Top Law Schools

Now on a serious note;

We're two Swedish students that are looking forward to study law in the States, however, there is one issue: We don't know what or how to come about this.

What is needed/required to study in the States (preferably New York/California)?
We've already talked to a guidance about college/university and apparently our high school degree here in Sweden is equivalent to 3 years of College in the States, which means that we'll have to study one year at college before continuing university.

Our questions are;
When are the applications for LSAT open? What is needed for LSAT? What books do we need? How do we even prepare for LSAT?
Has anyone done the LSAT and can explain to us how you prepare for it?
What tests (English tests) are required for Law School?
What kind of Visa is required?
Any college in NY/California we should apply to?



NOTE: We're not exchange students, we want to permanently live/stay and work in the States

Are there people out there in this forum that have gone through this and can help us?

Also, I hear that Swedish/European moose are more aggressive than North American moose. You might want to take that into account before you do anything. *sips coffee*

Guys: you can't get access to US government loans for school. You will have to figure out a source of funding on your own. Most people here take loans.

You can take the LsAT overseas. I think if you read the links provided you will find put about the exam.

There used to be some threads with questions from international students. You might search for them.

Do really well on the LSAT and get a full ride, because you're not getting anything in terms of loans.

People, keep in mind you're in the on-topics.

Law school is a graduate degree. If you still need a year of college to go to university (is sweden like the UK where "college" is like for 16-19 year olds?) you'll have to get an undergraduate degree before you attend law school. The US does not offer an llb etc..

Very desperate? And no we're not going to marry someone to get away from here, which is why we're asking people here so we don't have to do the illegal way ^_^

We're currently looking for jobs here in Sweden so we can pay tuition fee there, aswell as try adn get a part-time job so we don't have to take loans. We already know it's expensive, but we have our parents that can help us out aswell.

The Swedish school system is a bit complicated here, High School is equivalent to College there, however, high school here have two different "lines" - one is the social line whereas you can become lawyer, judge, teacher etc. and you have the nature line where you can become doctor, proffesor in math etc.

Basically the lines you choose in HS, pretty much decides what you want to become and is your reference to University.

We read Social line with the profile law and forensics, which means we read more competense for law rather than focusing on science and all that at high school.

Our High School here is pretty much High School and College together in USA.
