Top Law Schools

I'm interested in health law, but I don't have any health care background.

I currently work as a consultant for a fortune 500 bank. Would it be better to leverage that finance experience and concentrate in business or banking (securities) law?

I know it's tough to get law jobs right now, so I feel like any boost would be good.

I'm torn because both these specialties interests me.

Any advice would be great.

Don't specialize in anything unless you are passionate about that one thing and that's why you are going to law school. Otherwise, if you want biglaw your 'speciality' will be litigation, corporate, or both starting out. If you don't want biglaw, be more specific about your career plans because that makes a lot more of a difference than a subject matter speciality.

You will graduate a generalist to a large degree no matter what.

I want big law. I'm taking it I 100% need to go a T-14 for this right?

I was looking at Chapel Hill because of in state tuition, but I don't think the school places that well in big law

If a school has less than 10% of graduates going into a firm of 500+ attorneys, it's probably not a good choice if what you really want is big law.

You can get biglaw from a non t14 but the chances are really small. If you want biglaw, go to a T14

Healthcare is probably a better specialty, in a vacuum, but you shouldn't gun for it.

First, you don't know if you'll like it in practice. Second, and more importantly, you don't want to gun for it only to find out the firm doesn't need it. Depending on where you end up, it's best to be flexible and see what practice groups have a need for new associates. (eg don't gun for bankruptcy at Weil)
