Incomplete on Record

Very worried about going into the process. Have 1 incomplete on transcript on an otherwise strong academic record (3.84 GPA)- I kind of "let go" after losing a family member. I've worked with three different law related organizations and, this may matter more or less for some schools, am Af-Am. Should I submit an addendum to explain the incomplete? Is it hopeless to aim for a T-20 school?

I appreciate your candid responses!

I expect the incomplete will drop your GPA a tiny bit, but with any kind of decent LSAT you're in at Harvard/Yale/Stanford.

Thanks for your response! I'm not working with the highest LSAT score- in the Low 160s. But it sounds like there is still hope;)

Your main concern needs to be retaking.

ugh you're probably right. It's too late for me to think about Oct. but I'll have to give some serious thought to retaking in December.

Not to be rude, but I'm not probably right, it's a fact that the only right move here is to retake. I've done it myself, and it was the smartest move I ever made. Trust me on this one.

How long has it been since you graduated or received the incomplete? If you are still in school then review the policies in your Student Handbook. At most academic institutions an Incomplete is usually an "in progress" or "pending" transcript mark. You should talk to the Professor and see what you should do in order to turn this mark into a GRADE.

Retake and enjoy HYS. No addendum necessary.
