Is it worth it to go to one of these events? Would a good impression help your application?

I think that the best part is the opportunity to meet some of the people from the admissions office from the schools that you may be interested in. Although if the school is local, and/or a truly top school, the amount of people interested in getting some time from the schools staff will limit the upside. Most of the other schools will be in less demand, and it will be much easier to get time with the staff.

It will almost certainly be a waste of time if you are hoping for any sort of benefit on your application. I would only go if it were in my city and I had literally nothing else to do. And in going, just view it as an opportunity to get fee waivers or get questions answered rather as an opportunity to sell yourself.

If you could spend the whole day studying for the LSAT instead, that'd probably be a better investment imo.

Yeah, I agree. But I went during my freshman and sophomore year so I hadn't started studying for the LSAT. The pre-law society at my school turned it into a social event (it was in Miami) so it turned out being fun and slightly informative. The best thing about these forums were the lectures about financial aid. But then again, they don't teach you anything that you can't find on TLS.
