Buying LEEWS used...?

So I'm thinking about purchasing LEEWS to just to build a bit of a foundation before school starts in the fall.
I was just wondering if a) an older edition is different from the newest in a significant manner and b) if buying it used would detract from the program at all.
Also, can't anyone just buy the audio CD's, upload them to their computer, and resell the whole package? Or is there a kind of copyright protection that prevents one from doing that?
