Anyone who thinks that a background as a thief or fraudster is an automatic deal-breaker with the state bars will want to read this. Most people with such C & F issues won't be able to overcome them, but it isn't impossible.

Read the story of former Franklin High School (Seattle, WA) and Colorado State University football star Cleodis Floyd.

Felon back in court — as an attorney.

Caught up in a bank-fraud scheme as a college athlete, young man from Seattle faced years of struggles and setbacks, but never gave up on his goal...

But he lost his job because the firm didn't want to deal with his issues. So he is working for himself.

That's about the most depressing inspirational story I've ever read. All of that struggle for redemption just to wind up working as a solo doing DUI defense.

At least he won a few scholarships while in school. I wonder what his debt load is.

That guy (who has a book out) wrote a winning Supreme Court brief while in prison and then landed a job at like one of the two companies that prepare Court briefs...where he interacted with, gave advice to, and became friendly with nearly all of the top appelate lawyers and professors.

Then he went to law school. He hasn't cleared C&F yet either.

I'm sorry, how is that inspiring? Why should I, a law-abiding citizen, be happy for a felon who gets into the profession I'm entering?

Yes this is more sad than inspirational.
