Like a part time retail job or waiting tables?

Is it impossible?

You do not want to work 1L year. Definitely more worth it to spend that extra time studying or whatever.

I'm just really worried about my financial stability. My parents cannot help out and I need to be able to pay rent and all that jazz.

Have you thought about a PT program?

Your loans will cover it. Don't work. I don't know any 1Ls who are working and we want to kill ourselves as it is.

honestly, no. I would like to get in and get it done in 3 years. I'm already in debt (about 25k) from undergrad. I think I could get some financial aid, but I know it won't be enough. I'm jus so nervous about it because all I keep hearing is how terrible the job market is and no one can pay their loans back because they can't find a job that pays well enough and I don't want to end up like that.

It's basically the only thing that makes me so apprehensive about going to law school.

Well you should definitely be wary about going to law school in general and about the debt you would be taking on. There are plenty of threads on that. But to answer just this question - everyone gets enough loans to cover tuition and living expenses. Your credit would have to include multiple defaults to not qualify for federal GradPlus loans.

What's going to happen is you're are going take time away from your studies, which will handicap you. If you don't get better grades, then you aren't going to be as likely to get a job.

So if you were truly worried about financial security, then you would not work.

And retail is like $8 an hour, worked 20 hours a week (the max) you are only looking at $160 a week. Hardly worth it.
