What to specialize in EE?

Should I just focus on what I find interesting? What would be the most applicable for patent law?

Computers, Communications/Signal Processing, Electromagnetics, Controls, Microelectronics, Powers, etc?

Just do a decent about of circuits and semiconductor stuff.
