How can I get the political view of law schools?

Like left wing or right wing, liberal or conservative, is it possible to get to know that?

You're out of your mind if you think that what we need for a "balanced country" are the two parties currently dominating American politics.John Mill wrote:we need both political parties to have a balanced country.
Yea yea politics are a cesspool and democrats and republicans both suck, Ive heard that cliche a thousand times. My point was that having two opposing parties of any kind helps maintain balance. Swapping parties keeps us fresh, plus depending on what our countries going through it can be advantageous to have democrats or republicans in power at different times. Both parties excel at different things, and fulfill different needs.Swimp wrote:You're out of your mind if you think that what we need for a "balanced country" are the two parties currently dominating American politics.John Mill wrote:we need both political parties to have a balanced country.
It's not an assumption that most academics are liberals. It's a well-documented fact that no one disputes. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/18/arts/18liberal.html. Otherwise, I agree that it's very stupid to be worried about the conservative boogie man.John Mill wrote:I really don't get the stigma that seems to surround conservative views in some circles, particularly here on the internet. An eagle cant fly with two left wings, we need both political parties to have a balanced country. I don't like the idea of assuming most academics are liberals and the first thing people think of for conservatives are the "ARE COUNTRY" rednecks and racists.
Damn, I hate liberals. Just saw the movie <<dreams from my real father>> yesterday.Bronte wrote:Choose your school based on its job prospects. Among the schools that are worth attending in terms of job prospects, the political cultures are largely homogeneous. Both the faculty and student bodies of most law schools are majority liberal. Usually, however, there is a minority composed of intellectual conservatives. These are not your "ARE COUNTRY" conservatives. You don't have to be afraid of them.
The last poster to start a thread like this, we later discovered, was actually asking which schools have the most racist culture. In the event this is what you're actually asking, the answer is the same: no law school that is worth attending in terms of job prospects has a racist culture. The legal academy invented political correctness. The legal academy is veritably obsessed with equality, diversity, and tolerance. Law schools are probably the least likely place in the world that you would encounter racism.
I heard they are the most gay friendly.Theopliske8711 wrote:I'm not in law school yet, but a couple of my friends are. I plan to go to NYU, where they go, which is obviously very very liberal, but the kind of politics of law school students, with exception a noted few, are sterile. If you like mainstream liberal politics talk, your in luck; from what I have seen, the school is riddled with them; if you want something deeper, you may be left seriously wanting. I was ready to kill myself during some of the discussions that went on midst law school students. Most of these people certainly are not going to be Foucault readers, if you get what I mean.
I hear Regent is a good school, even without a scholarship. Have fun.jrwhitedog wrote: Damn, I hate liberals. Just saw the movie <<dreams from my real father>> yesterday.
A twist! OP is an ARE COUNTRY conservative.jrwhitedog wrote:I heard they are the most gay friendly.Theopliske8711 wrote:I'm not in law school yet, but a couple of my friends are. U of Chicago is conservative? WOW, R u telling me Hitler O is not a socialist?Lawquacious wrote:T14: U Chicago and UVA are relatively conservative (Chicago because the school tends to be associated with the conservative Chicago School of economics, whereas UVA is probably the most generally conservative T14 from what I gather)
T20: Vandy is relatively conservative.
T50: probably a few mixed in, but not positive which ones. Most University of __________ will have fairly liberal political environments though, except perhaps in the South.
All schools: Regent, Pepperdine and a few other are conservative (Christian).
Other than than, law schools, as most academia, tend to provide an overall liberal political environment IMO.
Most liberal schools include:
T14: U Michigan and NYU
