Dropping a non-required/non-major course?

Hey guys,

Our university has a policy where we can drop a course mid semester without being count as a W (withdraw) but it will still be on the transcript as a Q (known as the Q-Drop policy). Q dropping a course doesn't affect our GPA either. I am planning to drop a course that is not required for my major or degree plan and realized I didn't need it until about a week ago. I am currently a sophomore and I was wondering would this have any affect on the LSAC GPA when applying because I hear dropping courses count against you? Can anyone rectify if this is true or not and ultimately if its okay to drop a unnecessary course.

I would call lsac. I've never heard of a Q, so why risk it without double checking?
