How in the world can people graduate college with < 2.5 gpa? My school won't even let you graduate until you get your overall gpa above 2.5 and have a major gpa of 2.75 or above. Some majors a 3.0. Is my school the minority here? I thought most schools were this way...

They get more Cs than Bs...
Have you never heard, "Cs get degrees"?
If you mean LGPA, I would think many who have <2.5 LGPAs have >2.5 UGPAs. Fs really hurt LGPAs.

There are a lot of people who don't focus so much on studies, but focus so much on other stuff" networking, research, internships, etc.
At my school, anyone that gets above 3.3 is eligible for honors (with other requirements). So I guess Bs are not the end of the world.

My school I believe just requires a C or better in required classes to graduate, maybe a B in an intro class for the pre-req for higher classes.
Tons of my friends have been athletes that graduate from athletic training/criminology/whatever lol major with like a 2.2
I don't think this is that rare

At my old school anything less than a C+ was omitted from your external transcript. So you could sign up for a class, decide to drop it after the drop deadline just by never showing up again, and there were no consequences. It was pretty great.
