Top Law Schools

Anyone had any experience with the Law Preview program? I ended up getting a scholarship to attend one for free so not a bad deal obviously, but kind of would like to just spend that week traveling. Recommendations?

Everyone seems to think it's a waste of time/money and that a book like GTM is better all-around.

I, personally, have no clue.

I was thinking the same thing but Vinson and Elkins is footing the bill, so maybe just attend so as not to burn bridges when employment search comes around/ help in getting an SA position? Dammit, I probably shouldn't have applied.

Meh, if it were free for me I'd probably attend.

I got the scholly too, and I will be doing it for a couple of reasons.

1. I haven't been in a classroom in almost a decade and I'd rather get back in classroom mode when it doesn't count.
2. It will make my dad happy (he thinks I should be reading casebooks and studying SCOTUS decisions, no matter how I try to argue otherwise).
3. I've never taken class notes on a laptop and I want to practice (again, before it actually counts).

Basically I figure it can't hurt, might help a bit (with general classroom comfort and performance if not with legal subjects), it's free, and I'll already be in Chicago anyway with several weeks to kill.

Plus I thought it might kind of look bad to Latham (or whatever firm awarded your scholarship) to turn it down.

I turned it down for financial reasons; I wish I hadn't needed to. It can only help. I didn't have to worry about the bridge burning though--my grades came out too low to get hired at the sponsoring firm anyway!

i really miss my school years and it was a very big fun for me on going on school. About the grades well, im just studying and studying and not worrying about that much. So that is why the result of my grades was good. Don't think too much about the grades just enjoy studying. It can help you a lot.

If the firm gave you a scholarship for the course, why would you turn it down for financial reasons?

They paid for the course but not for the move/housing/etc. It wasn't located in a location where I had any family or really even knew anyone.
