Better Odds 172 or top 1/3

So, if you followed my other thread, I got into a t25. I have a 60k per year job at a t250 firm. I like my job a lot, but it's inevitable that I will end up in law school. I cannot get rid of the desire and I've wanted to go for 4 years. There is no talking me out of eventually going. My firm will hire me if I make the top 1/3 in my class.

Many posters have advised against leaving my career. I value their opinion enough that I'm seriously considering giving up on my dream school that I got into, and trying to improve my LSAT for T14 NU or Michigan.

My question is, what is easier: top 1/3 at a T25 or improving my LSAt from 166 (which I worked very hard to attain) to a 172-173? I do believe I have it in me to break 170. I got a 172 on a couple practice tests back before my 166.

Keep studying for the LSAT and enjoy your job in the meantime. Once you consistently score 170 or more, retake and enjoy law school.

I don't know what the odds are, but I see it like this:

If you finish outside top 1/3 at your T25, you probably won't find a legal job as good as your current IT job + you'll be in serious debt.

On the other hand, if you fail to get a 172..you can probably just go back to your T-25 (I don't imagine schools in that area really care about reapplicants, especially if you're gracious when you withdraw). And if you succeed, not only will you greatly increase your chances of getting back to the firm you want to be at, if you miss the cutoff there (I'm guessing median or above?), you'll still have a shot at a good job.

Your firm sounds like kind of a dick firm unless their normal cutoff is like top 10%.

Not only are there better odds with 172, but you get to try again. Once you lock into your 1st your grades, you're stuck with them.
What she said. If you go to school now, worst case scenario you're bottom 1/3, jobless, and in debt. If you withdraw and retake, worst case scenario you score lower but you're probably still going to get into the same schools.
