What time do law school classes usually start?

Might be a really stupid question. But I've been curious as to how someones schedule in law school looks like. Do people attend class in the morning? Afternoon? Are class times flexible or do they get assigned to you? How many hours a day do people spend in class? I'm assuming it varies depending on the school though i just wanted to get a general idea.

I would say "it depends" but here's one example:

(FT 1L classes indicated by Sec. 1 and Sec. 2; Sec. 3 is the PT program).

Ours was terrible this semester. 9am - 4pm with a break for lunch. But not long enough to get errands or anything else accomplished during the day.

My fall semester schedule was this:
M/T
9:00 - Contracts
11:00 - Civ Pro
1:30 (to 2:45) - Crim
3:00 - LRW "Lecture"
W
9:00 - Contracts
11:00 - Civ Pro
2:30 - Property
Th/F
9:15 (to 10:45) - Torts
11:00 - LRW "Small Group" (Th only)
2:30 Property
There were two small changes in the spring - no crim and property at 1:00. All 1L's had the same schedule in the fall. In the spring only one prof taught property so there was a 1:00 and a 2:30 section. Profs and sections were assigned by the dean's office. You simply registered for the sections that they told you to register for.

In my senior year of college, I didn't take any class before noon.
I'm going to miss those days...

Oh yes that was wonderful
But in law school, especially you first year, your classes will probably start between 8am and 9am.

after your first year you can pick classes that start in the afternoon. 2L/3L year you should schedule all your classes in the morning and get a part time job in the afternoon to get experience.

That year I didn't
attend any before noon. But that was some time ago (and the only thing between me and T14).

Of course some schools require your agreement to a limitation on hours worked per week.

During 1L, the school selected my schedule and I had 9AM classes M-F. It was brutal. But this year (2L), I got to pick my own classes and I started at 10:30 M/W and at 1:00PM T/TH and it has been great. Next semester, I will only have classes two days a week.

It is an ABA requirement that you work no more than 20 hours per week if enrolled as a full-time student, so unless you're going to a non-accredited school in California, that is your maximum.

Texas has a stricter limit than the ABA requirements. And has no PT program. (ETA: That's "Texas" as in "Univ. of"... not the state)

I have never taken an 8am class in my life. This could be bad. Even my senior year of high school I only went noon to 3:30.

You went to a high school where you could show up at noon?! Nice!

Yeah, I once pulled off a semester in high school where I had no classes on Friday
