Chance to raise gpa or Cycle across the United States?

Right now I have am in a position to take classes this summer that would raise my LSDAS gpa from below a 3 to above a 3 after I take the June Lsat. I have been PTing very high and would probably, after the test (if all goes according to plan) be considered an extreme splitter.
I also have the opportunity to cycle, solo self-supported, across America to raise money for an organization that I am currently an Executive member for here at my university.
Would it be recommended, if my goal was to apply and become accepted into a T14 school, to have a gpa above 3 or to have a "soft" such as the one I listed?

Wait, your trip is designed to raise a ton of money but you can't even get your group to support your expenses across the country? What organization are we talking about here, some sort of Jewish fraternity? I think the difference between a 2.99 and a 3.01 is negligible and transparent, so do whatever is most fun and will get you the most girls.

I want to complete it by myself, it's what makes it a meaningful challenge to me.
It's actually the second largest college philanthropy in the nation, we raise an annual amount of almost $2 million dollars for a children's hospital.
I was just wondering if I would get an automatic reject from schools because I fall below their gpa "floor" of 3.0

Although that sounds fun, that's a pretty stupid soft when it comes to law school apps (Look at me! I decided to bike cross-country rather than complete my last semester doing actual school work!). The answer here is almost always "improve your GPA at all costs." But yeah, if we are talking less than .05 GPA points or something, then it really doesn't matter anyway, bike away Lance.

And most T14 schools have GPA floors that they will almost always never dip under. For non-IP and non-Medal of Honor softs, it would be safe to say that a 3.0 is probably a safe bet on a possible floor. That being said, the floor might be 3.15, who knows? I don't know for sure (and I doubt anyone else here knows either unless we have an admissions counselor in our midst?)

That was the answer I was looking for.
However I guess I should of specified that I am currently finishing my junior year. So, it's not a do or die. It's just a an "above a 3.0 before I hit the 2012-13 cycle".

On the bright side this horrible situation does give new meaning to the term 'admissions cycle,' and I hear admissions committees like puns. Snapping back to reality, though, I think with a GPA that bad you would have to somehow bike around the world in order for this soft to have any impact. Sorry.

Word choice of "stupid" was probably overly harsh, my bad. But yeah, that soft isn't going to make any real difference in your your cycle.

Always raise your GPA.

If you want to, ultimately, raise your GPA and do the cycling trip, why not wait a year to apply?
If you're going to be a splitter anyways, some WE couldn't hurt.

No. Be good at life > Raise GPA. You have time to get above a 3.0 since you should honestly get some work experience before law school anyway.

I think we're missing the fact that this i still junior year. If you've still got the chance to raise your GPA during the normal school year you should probably just do that and spend your summer however you want.

You should get your GPA above a 3.0, then you should cycle across the country because you want to, not because its a 'soft.' Especially if that means you have to take a year between college and law school.
I'm pretty sure you need a 3.0+ for any T14 except NW, and you'd need WE to get into there so, yeah.
