Top Law Schools

Is it possible/reasonable to apply to law school while traveling abroad? I am taking a few months off after the October LSAT to travel after going directly from HS to college to the workforce for a few years, but I still want to be able to apply for this cycle.

Anyone here do this? Any suggestions or warnings?

I thought I'd send in all my apps at once, then just let it ride and leave the country. Dumb idea?

you should be fine considering most of the applications are submitted online. As long as you have your LORs and transcripts into LSAC before you go. The only thing is that there are a small number of schools that requesst that you mail them your application fee. I applied to like 15 schools, but only one required it (rutgers-newark). But other than that, you should be fine. Best of luck

I've heard of some schools requesting an interview (Georgetown ED?). Would this disqualify me from these schools? Have you ever heard of someone doing a Skype interview?

I applied from overseas and no one requested I interview them in person -- I actually did a telephone interview, but they may be flexible about skype.

I'd say you only lose out on a few small things, like you don't get swag mailed to you upon acceptance, instead I got just an email with pdfs of financial aid info, etc. Also, you don't get the congratulatory phone call acceptance, just the email acceptance. But it should be fine.

I applied from overseas. Only one school requested a check, and I simply asked my parents to send that in (and PayPal'd them the money).
I find the LSAC application be highly portable / functional. It's very easy to do your apps from wherever life takes you.

I worked in med school admissions before AMCAS went digital, so with everything being digital this may have changed. Students in the military/peace corps generally signed some kind of power of attorney that allowed their parents to sign things for them (a copy was put in their file). This was mostly important later in the cycle when committing to a seat. Couldn't hurt to have that set up in case you plan to be off the grid for part of your travels.
